What to Expect

First Lutheran is a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). Our worship is rooted in the historic Christian liturgy: confession and absolution, Scripture readings, the proclamation of the Gospel through preaching, the prayers of the church, and the Sacrament of the Altar (Holy Communion).

If you’re new to liturgical worship, don’t worry — you don’t need to know what to do. The order of service is printed in the bulletin (or shown on the screen), and you’re welcome to follow along, sing, or simply listen and pray. Come as you are. Most people dress neatly but casually; you’ll see suits, jeans, and everything in between.

Children are always welcome in worship. We have no separate children’s service — faith is formed across generations, and the youngest among us are vital members of the congregation.
