On Friday, August 2nd First Lutheran Church hosted a mission presentation by Pastor Pappy Daniel. You are invited to learn about Pastor Daniel's ministry to the orphans and poor in India.

Having come to Christ at the age of 17, Pappy Daniel felt the Lord directing his life. After graduating from high school, Pastor Daniel attended a teacher's training program. Upon completion of the program, he taught in the public school system of India for eight years. However, Pappy Daniel resigned his teaching job, feeling the Lord was calling him to a full time Christian ministry. Witnessing and evangelizing in villages, Pastor Daniel went door to door telling folks about his new life in Jesus. During this time, he saw abject poverty, observed children with hyper-extended bellies and malnourished bodies and living in miserable housing conditions. They were without proper clothing and were receiving a below standard education. Thus, with the Lord's leading, Pappy Daniel began the Light of Hope Mission in which he opened a home for orphans not far from a popular tourist area. Currently 120 children live in the orphanage.

Now the Light of Hope Mission has expanded to include the following projects:

*Village evangelism; establishing Christian worship groups.
*Literature Ministry; printing tracts in the various languages in India and distributing them in outreach.
*Establishing Bible classes in village meetings.
*Counseling for alcoholics and families with problems.
*Building rooms in villages so children can get an education.
*Tailoring and embroidery classes to train orphans and villagers enabling them to earn a living.
*Computer education for children and youth.
*Medical assistance to those who cannot afford health care.
